Introduction
I’ve been into the Hobby for a much shorter frame compared to most enthusiasts and for some reason I felt strongly that I wanted to get as much hobbying done in a short amount of time.
This has resulted in me painting up an astonishing number of Space Marines in a quick to paint colour scheme that is similar to the GW Space Wolves colour scheme.
Colour Scheme
- Mechanicus Standard Grey
- Retributor Armour
- Leadbelcher
- Abaddon Black
- Incubi Darkness
- Mournfang Brown (for pouches, holsters & such)
For the weapons I’ve been using the following colours:
- Abaddon Black / Mephiston Red
- Leadbelcher
- Retributor Armour (for things like the Aquilae)
The Initial Idea & What Changed
In the beginning I wanted to play them as a Ultramarine Successor Chapter as I had painted up my 2nd edition Space Marines as Ultramarines but after that I changed my mind as I managed to pick up a second-hand copy of the Space Wolf Codex plus a Ragnar Blackmane miniature for cheap.
Now that I’ve firmly decided to play them as a Space Wolf Successor I’ve gotta figure out a few things; which I will write a bit about this week as a possible guide for those of you who wish to create your own Successor Chapter.
Planned Articles for This Series
In this series of articles I’ll be working through my thought process in fleshing out my Space Wolf Successor Chapter which would include articles that cover the following:
- Choosing a Colour Scheme: The Thinking Behind My Colour Choices
- Coming Up with a Name & Developing My Chapter Heraldry
- Developing the Backstory for My Successor Chapter
Some of the themes above could spread out over more than 1 article as I’m still in the early stages of developing my Successor Chapter. Even though I’ve painted a lot of them up, it always bugged me a little that I’ve not fleshed them out that much. Now that I’ve read up quite a bit of lore and immersed myself into the fiction of Warhammer 40,000 I am more ready to tackle this long-term project to work own my own addition to the world of Warhammer 40K.
Wish me luck!
